Who doesn’t enjoy a gift that’s been made for him with love? Here are some DIY ideas for gifts to sew for the guys in your life.
Hey y’all, today I’m sharing a round up of gifts to sew for men. While there are all kinds of men’s sewing projects on this site, I’ve never put them together in a gift round up before. So here are some of my best gift ideas for him, complete with a link to each tutorial, for you to make for Christmas, birthdays, Father’s Day or just because you want to share a handmade gift.
Clothing to Sew for Him
Since I sew a lot of clothing, here are some clothing ideas to sew as gifts for the guys.
The hoodie has to be my most popular make. From tween age guys to my brothers and husband, everyone loves a hoodie. Get the hoodie tutorial here, and make sure to check out all the variations on the basic hoodie you can make by modifying the pattern.
For another layer under the hoodie, a basic t-shirt is a great idea.
And if you live in a warm climate like I do, shorts are also a great gift. Here’s how to make a pair of shorts with pockets.
If you want a different t-shirt style, you can also sew a men’s raglan t-shirt as a present. You can even do this in the colors of his favorite sports team.
For lounging when it’s cooler outside, try these DIY men’s lounge pants or pajamas. Add a matching t-shirt from one of the tutorials above to make perfect Christmas gifts.
Or you can go a little more buttoned up (but still casual) with this men’s camp style shirt. This is also a great project if you don’t want to use stretch fabric yet, as all of the ideas above are made with knits.
Accessories to Sew for Men
Maybe you don’t want to go with full garment pieces when you’re sewing gifts. If so, here are some accessory projects that could make the perfect gift for him.
In the winter, help him keep his hands warm and still use his phone with these fingerless mittens.
This cowl neck warmer is an alternative to scarves in the cold weather.
And though this beanie hat is on my little guy, the beanie tutorial post has drafting instructions for different sizes from babies to kids to men. And this project sews up quickly to keep everyone’s head cozy.
Bags to Sew for Men
If your guy likes to travel, you can make this dopp kit to carry his toiletries. And in the tutorial video in that post you can also enjoy the Coach sewing with me.
Also useful while he’s traveling are these packing cubes.
Here’s a bag that’s a great gift to sew for dads – give him his own diaper clutch.
And here’s a bag for a pegboard, to help him keep his shop organized.
Gifts for the Guys Who Love Technology
Help him keep his chargers organized with these cord keepers, which are a great way to use up fabric scraps.
Here’s a stand for his phone that will work on a desk but is also soft enough to lay in the bed. It’s also perfect for a smaller tablet
