And for my first round Sewvivor project, for the theme “Emerald”, I give you the newly christened (and newly released) Fresh Bloom Frock girls dress pattern.
The dress features an asymmetrical collar that was drafted and redrafted and then redrafted some more after I sent out this pattern for testing. But I think it’s my favorite part of the dress. It is definitely the thing that caught my eye in the inspiration photo.
My other favorite part of this dress? The button shoulder. I used a little of the un-embroidered selvedge of the fabric to cover the button. I just love this detail.
The bodice is fully lined, and the dress features pockets – because honestly, ALL dresses should have pockets. Why did it take umpteen years of fashion for us to figure that out?
I need to give a shout out to my wonderful model and her mom – they graciously agreed to shoot photos for this dress twice! Once when I shot the images for the pattern cover, and again when I decided to use this dress for Sewvivor since the pattern release, color theme and contest all coincided so nicely.
And now the blatant self-promotion. If you want to see what I have in mind for the next Sewvivor theme, “Buttons”, I need your vote! Make sure to head over to Family Ever After and vote.
