And for my first round Sewvivor project, for the theme “Emerald”, I give you the newly christened (and newly released) Fresh Bloom Frock girls dress pattern.
The dress features an asymmetrical collar that was drafted and redrafted and then redrafted some more after I sent out this pattern for testing. But I think it’s my favorite part of the dress. It is definitely the thing that caught my eye in the inspiration photo.
My other favorite part of this dress? The button shoulder. I used a little of the un-embroidered selvedge of the fabric to cover the button. I just love this detail.
The bodice is fully lined, and the dress features pockets – because honestly, ALL dresses should have pockets. Why did it take umpteen years of fashion for us to figure that out?
The fabric is hand dyed, using Dharma Procion Fiber Reactive Dye in Paris Green. I started with this gorgeous eyelet from Joann, but I think it’s even yummier in Emerald.
I need to give a shout out to my wonderful model and her mom – they graciously agreed to shoot photos for this dress twice! Once when I shot the images for the pattern cover, and again when I decided to use this dress for Sewvivor since the pattern release, color theme and contest all coincided so nicely.
Love the new photos. The color of the eyelet is gorgeous!
LOVE!!! I was so excited when I saw that you were going to be in Sew-vivor, you always come up with such fun, fresh, and fashion forward looks and I love them all!!! Great job, and I love seeing all the hand dying you’ve been doing recently.
I very nearly went the dye route and had that same eyelet in hand while I went to look at the available dyes. So glad we didn’t end up “wearing the same dress to the prom!” Love this design!
Adorable! I love the mod feel and the asymmetrical collar – very stylish 😀
The collar and button! So beautiful!
oh, I really like that collar detail !
Beautiful dress & model! The neckline detail is worthy of use in adult clothing!
Love the color and the design of the dress!
Love the neck detail on this dress. Beautiful!
Love, Love, Love this Mel…off to the shop to purchase!!!!
