Make this DIY Twisted Hem Knot T-shirt with these video instructions

Hey y’all, today is the last of the four free hoodie pattern hacks I sewed, and this twist hem version is miles away from the original, but I promise the pattern modifications are simple and do-able to get this look.

One of my goals this year was to sew more workout wear, since I wear that a lot of the time. This top, in a drapey breathable rayon with big sleeve holes is perfect for me. It should be noted though, that if you are worried about bra exposure, you might want to do this hack on the Blanc T-shirt instead of the hoodie pattern.

Want to make your own twist hem t? I show how in the video below, which you can also watch on YouTube here if you prefer.
The pattern modifications to do this are also diagrammed below for reference. To start, add a seam allowance to the center front. The decide on the width of the band you’d like at the bottom. I did wanted a 2 inch wide band. To that you need to add seam allowances to each side, which gave me 3 inches. You’re going to add a vertical tail that wide to the center front of your shirt. Then measure from that tail to the side seam. Make sure your tail is that long

I see more of these twist hem shirts in my future – I have a lightweight sweater knit that is begging to be something similar.

THANKS FOR THIS TUTE! I thought I’d have to buy 2 T-shirts to accomplish this effect! I am off to find some T’s I can alter.
