Well, today we finish the Coastal Cargos sew along. And guess what? I really don’t have any tips on the waistband and hems except what’s in the pattern. So I’m just going to show pictures of Bean in his finished pair and hopefully you’re good with that.
Since I skipped the welt pockets and front pockets on these pants, I decided to play with the pleat on the cargo pockets by reversing it (so I pleated the wrong side). I like how it turned out – I may do this again.
And Bean was pretty happy with his new pants.
Thanks for sewing along – I’m hoping to see your pants in the Facebook group or the Flickr group!
Monday: Fabric Selection and Preparation
Tuesday: Zip fly & welt pockets

Ha! I saw your pockets and before I read your commentary, I was like, “Shoot! I messed mine up!” Obviously, they look pretty nice in the reverse, too!

I thought the same thing! LOL…. either way they look great.

Love these, so stinking ute! I have two pair all cut out, first steps pinned to go and NO time over the weekend to sew :-(. Hopefully finish them early next week 🙂

I actually almost put my cargo pockets on this way, too. I thought they’d look cool and now I know they do! I didn’t do any bias tape and just sewed my seams like normal, but I adore these pants! I made mine with a red stretch denim, front pockets, my very first welt pockets, and cargo pockets. I lined everything in a super cute fireman fabric that no one looking at the pants will see, but makes me incredibly happy and my son, as well! I have another pair all ready to go with the cutest license plate fabric! It will also be used to make a prepster pullover to match. Thank you for the sew-along!
