Hey y’all – today I’m showing you my version of the Diamond top. I looooooove this top! The lines, the POCKETS (I love when a pattern includes those and circumvents my lazy tendency to skip them), the fit – it’s all great.
The Diamond pattern is part of Pattern Anthology’s Unbiased collection, which comes with 4 digital sewing patterns for tops and dresses AND $250 worth of coupons! You can get your collection at the link above or  just hit the buy now button below.
The Diamond pattern has a bunch of options, but what I really love is the flattering diamond shape in the center of the bodice. I wanted to choose fabric to set off that detail, and I started with an entirely different mix of prints and stripes.
But then this lace that I bought in San Francisco last year kept calling to me. I cut a piece and basted it to my center front piece, but it wasn't quite enough. I wanted to echo that same shape on the peplum. So I cut out some lace pieces and appliquéd them to the peplum - much like I sewed the lace in this post.Â
Pattern adjustments: I did a small FBA (Shauna has great instructions in the pattern about how to adjust these specific pieces), shortened the bodice about 1 inch for my high waist, and shortened the peplum length so it would fall in the same place as my Penelope Peplum because I like that length on me. IÂ also lengthened the sleeves which is a normal adjustment for me.

I love the lace! It’s such a nice accent to show off the cool lines of this pattern, and LACE! Every time I think I can’t stand having another lace top, I find another cool lace that is begging to be used towards that end. This lace looks like just that kind of lace. Just lovely.
