Hey ya’ll – today I wanted to share my Gwen top from the Unbiased collection. This pattern was designed by Kate of See Kate Sew, and like all of her patterns it has adorable style.
A while back, I found this double knit fabric at Joann – and I bought both colorways.
I used the cream/gold for the dress version of the Denver pattern.
And then I had juuuust enough left over to eke out this Gwen top. I decided to do the color blocked version with the button placket. But I didn’t have any matching buttons.
My fave local fabric store – The Cloth Pocket – to the rescue! These gold buttons look like they were MADE for this top. However, I didn’t do a great job spacing them – I wish I had gotten the top button a little closer to the top, but the buttonholes were longer than I anticipated. Oh well.
I did modify the top by shortening both the armscye and sleeve cap to fit my body. This is a pretty common alteration I make – you can see it’s an issue even on big 4 patterns for me. It’s a pretty easy alteration – I just slash and overlap at the armscye and on the sleeve cap.

I know this top is going to be a staple for me for fall, and I can see myself making more!

Not to make you rush out and haunt every JoAnns in a 100 mile radius or anything, but I’ve seen this fabric in navy blue also! Love your version of the Gwen top.

You know what’s weird is I really liked how there was that extra space at the top with the button. I noticed it and thought it looked cool! When I read it was an accident I was surprised :0)
