I hope you’re not going to leave me over two knitting posts this week! But knitting is my second love (I learned to sew when I was 3, knit when I was 11) and I’ve been doing a lot of it lately.
This is going to be a Starsky Sweater
I love the pattern, but it is a lot of work to create since there are cable twists on the front and back side. I usually prefer my patterns to let you rest a little more on the wrong side.
Then, after I decided to make the Starsky Sweater, I wandered into a new yarn shop that has opened in the area. If you are in the north Austin area, you should check out Round Rock Yarn and Fiber Studio (I’m not affiliated in any way – just doing my part to support local business). I got this yarn there, and it’s going to be a cardigan for Bean, I think. Maybe a Starsky Jr.?
Then another day I was in Michael’s getting supplies for another project, and this 100% cotton yarn was on sale for $1 per skein. So I got 8 of them, 4 in each color. More cardigans for the boys?
It’s super close to the original color, and it’s superwash, so I won’t end up with another felted sweater.
But then I couldn’t just get one kind of yarn with that kind of sale going on, so I also picked up this angora/silk blend.
It is so scrumptiously soft, and it destined to be a Spring Twilight Sweater for me.
So darn you, holiday sales and direct emails informing me of said sales!
On the plus side, I think I have enough yarn to knit to the end of 2013. If you don’t mind the not sewing posts, I’ll even share what I make.
Thanks for stopping by; sewing will resume tomorrow with a post about seam finishing.
