I am so excited this series has started and that I can share what I’ve been hard at work on over the past month! The pieces you see in this post are all patterns from my newly released eBook, Blank Slate Basics.
As all of you who sew for boys know, the patterns available for boys are about 1/4 or less of the patterns available for girls. I am on a mission to start to correct that. My goal with this set of patterns is to give those who sew for boys a set of “Blank Slates” – the things boys wear all the time – so that you don’t have to worry about drafting patterns, you can skip right to expressing creativity through fabric choice, embellishment and detail.
So today I’m showing you the Blank Tank
The Vintage V-Neck
And the Clean Slate Shorts
All the basics your own Boys of Summer need for the season!
Blank Slate Basics has all three of these patterns in sizes 18m-8, plus two more.

What a fantastic idea Melissa! I particularly like the shorts. I would love to make Will a stack of those. When will your pattern be available?
Melissa
August 16th they’ll be available as a set and individually.

I love that you are concentrating on the BOYS! There is so little out there for boys and I always have to make my own patterns for my son.

Awwww! What gorgeous boys!! The clothes look fab too, but I think those two little heartbreakers would look great in anything! Looking forward to the series!

How great! I will have to get your ebook 🙂 I love the entire idea! I made a tank and shorts combo for Sew in Tune and blogged about it but I kind of winged the patterns on my own and this would have made it so much easier and nicer! Great outfits! And fantastic series! Hurray for boys!

Thanks for caring about the boys. They are so overlooked in the pattern and fabric world. So many options for the girls. I have purchased the Clean Slate pattern. Now for figuring out what size to make my skinny grandson.
