This month over at Boy, Oh Boy, Oh Boy, the Sewing for Boys book Sew-Along Pattern is the Easy Linen Tunic. This is my version of the tunic.
I used a linen/cotton dobby fabric. To keep it from going totally Huck Finn, I did contrast stitching in orange and added button tabs to the sleeves to keep them rolled up.
Tater tried it out at the creek, then the playground, and pronounced it a “nice shirt.” Glad he liked it.

Love the shirt. Contrast stitching and button tabs are great! (Was thinking about those button tabs when I made mine, but then didn’t add them. Yours turned out so nice I wish I had…)
Stacey
Yep, that contrast stitching makes the shirt. I love how it turned out. Mine is almost done. Just the collar left to attach and the bottom to hem but now I’m wishing I’d been brave enough to use a contrasting thread.

This is so very nice and exactly what I am looking for as my 7 yo is going to be ring bearer in his older sisters Lord of the rings theme wedding on August 10th. Is there any chance you would make one to sell? If so, email [email protected]. I really like your place here!
