Hi Everyone! This is Lara from Handmade by Lara Liz. I’m here on the Melly Sews Blog to share my Skye Joggers (aff link) – which are perfect in time for this winter weather that has taken over the east coast of the US!
This month’s theme is cozy and to me there is nothing cozier on a cold day that a pair of joggers to lounge in – paired with a cute pattern and beautiful french terry fabric and they’re a big win in my book! This fall, I’ve been focusing on building up my basics in my handmade wardrobe. I can never have too many pairs of joggers, t-shirts, sweatshirts, etc so this theme fit right into my fall plans.
The Skye Joggers are a traditional jogger with two lengths – calf or ankle length. They feature an elastic waist, leg/ankle bands and pockets (big enough to hold your phone and keys!). I made no changes to the pattern with the exception of omitting the optional drawstring. I chose to sew up the calf length because I tend to pair mine with a pair of tennis shoes when I’m running out and about.
French Terry is one of my favorite fabrics to work with – it’s easy to work with (perfect for beginners) and is really comfortable to wear. It also works for all those cozy patterns in your stash. I love Raspberry Creek Fabrics and their CLUB line features such cute prints. This print is printed on grey french terry which was a perfect match for this pattern.
I decided to size up on my pair to allow for a cozier fit. My measurements put me at a small but I chose to sew up a medium instead. I was able to cinch in the waist a bit more using the elastic but I’m happy with my choice to size up one size. I tend to wear my joggers lounging around the house so I don’t mind that they’re a little bit more roomy.
I also love that this pattern would be a super easy holiday gift! With little fitting involved and a quick sew, it would be perfect to make for a handmade gift.
Thanks for stopping by and reading about my Skye Joggers!
