Welcome to March on the blog – this month’s theme is JEANS! The gorgeous and talented Sabra of Sew a Straight Line and I are teaming up for the month to convince you to sew your own jeans.
We have a ton of fun and informational stuff for you this month, from patterns and supplies, to identifying fit issues in ready to wear, to mending, to a sew along where we’re hoping you will sew along with us and create your own jeans.
AND we have lined up some goodies for you too – including a giveaway at the end of the month after the sewalong. Thanks to our series sponsors.
Let’s start with talking about patterns.
Named Clothing Patterns are modern PDF sewing patterns for women designed by Finnish sisters Saara and Laura. I love that PDF patterns and the internet make international patterns instantly available wherever you are in the world. If you haven’t see their Jamie Jeans pattern, you should check it out.
And Named is running a discount on all trouser and shorts patterns in their shop for this series. Use the code TROUSERSANDSHORTS to get 10% off. Sabra and I will be reviewing the Jamie Jeans later in the month, and I’m super excited!
Craftsy is also sponsoring the series, with a 20% discount on their jeans and pants classes.
Use the links below to register for any of the discounted classes
20% off Jean-ius

And let’s not forget supplies! Michael Levine Low Price Fabric has some great denim and stretch denim. Use the code JEANS10 to get 10% off your order from them.
So, ready to sew along? Excited to tackle jeans? I can’t wait to share this month, because, confession: I’ve never sewn jeans for myself. Just for the boys. But I tried on 11 pairs of jeans in the store the other day, and dadgummit I am ready for a pair that FITS! Oh and those 11 pairs? I’ll be sharing my fit woes with you. Though I think I’m going to have to cut my head off. In case any of that goes viral on Pinterest or anything.

Great series! I’ve been wanting to make my own jeans for some time…because gaddummit I’m also ready for a pair that fits! I think getting the right denim is also a stumbling block for me. If you have suggestions on where to purchase great denim – I’m all ears too!
Sara
Fabulous! Great timing. I’ll be following along.

Exciting! I recent sewed the Named Jamie jeans and I love them! I need to make alterations for my next pair, but that is where I’m stuck. So hopefully there will be some tips on how to get a perfect fit!

I’m totally in the same boat as you. I just can’t seem to find fitting jeans in the stores… I absolutely HATE skinny jeans though… (I have bikers legs, it just doesn’t works…) Will you ladies be addressing alterations to make them more of a boot cut/boyfriend leg? If so, I’m in!
EMily
I’m in!! I’ve had denim, rivets and a pattern picked out for ages… this will get me sewing now ;o) Looking forward to reading more .
