This is just a short post, with an affiliate link, because y’all, I can’t stop using this book. It’s fairly new (published last year, and my library just got it) but I have now ordered my own copy and told several others about it. It’s The Complete Photo Guide to Perfect Fitting (affiliate link).
Reasons I love it – 1) it’s written kind of like blog tutorials, with TONS of photos and step by step process text.
AND 2) it doesn’t just show you how to fit different kinds of muslins, it shows you how to then take those alterations to a pattern, so it will fit you perfectly next time you make it too!
Also 3) It’s only $17. TOTALLY WORTH IT.
I’ve already used the library copy a bunch while I wait for mine to get here, because (hangs head in shame) I FINALLY drafted a bodice from scratch based on my measurements AND fitted the muslin. How does that happen – how does a pattern designer go so long without doing that? I have no good excuse. I have drafted many bodices from scratch based on “standard” measurements, I have altered many patterns to fit me based on a muslin, you’d think I’d save myself the time and do a nice block for myself, but, well, there you have it. My dirty little secret.
So again, The Complete Photo Guide to Perfect Fitting (affiliate link). You want it.

I would never just buy a book like that…. but with your recommendation, now I REALLY REAALLY want it!!!! Hey, we use the same old sewing machine so anything you like, I’m buyin’! 😉
Now, next question… I have jeans that fit great everywhere except across the lower tummy. It is so bunchy! If I didn’t know better I would think they were maternity jeans, but I know they are not! Would this book address how/where to take them in? Is it even possible? THANKS!!!

Oh my goodness…this looks amazing! I was just grumbling about the drafting book I took out from the library. It all sounded like Greek to me (uh and I don’t speak Greek)!
I do well with photos. Visual learner all the way!
Thank you!!
