Did you ever own a pair of dress shoes that gave you blisters or pinched your feet when you were little? I very clearly remember a gorgeous pair of velvet Mary Janes I had as a kid that did both. But oh, they were so pretty. But here’s the thing – kids holiday clothes and shoes do NOT have to be uncomfortable. With my boys, and with Baby Girl, pretty but uncomfortable doesn’t cut it. Which is why they love their Minnetonka Moccasins. (Disclaimer: this is a sponsored post – as if you hadn’t already figured that out – but all opinions are my own).
These shoes go perfectly from dressy to play – as you can see Baby Girl and her cousins Tater and Bean put them through their paces out at the grandparents’ ranch.
And they go perfectly with the clothing I sewed up from the current Pattern Anthology collection. Above Baby Girl is wearing the fully reversible Amaryllis Dress with her pink Minnetonka Double Fringe Side Zip booties (sponsored) and her Juliet Capelet. Proving without a doubt that suede boots can be totally girly and appropriate with a dress. When (if) it gets colder here, her booties will be perfect with tights, too.
Style Tip 1: Don’t be afraid to mix casual and dressy. These boots work with the dressy silk/cotton dress because of the same color pops
Below Tater is sporting his Berkshire Blazer over a hand dyed orange Johnny B Good shirt with denim Tree Climber Trousers. He’s wearing the super comfy Minnetonka Boys Mocs (sponsored) in chocolate.
And they are comfy (he ran around all afternoon) and definitely a chocolate-y rich color.
Style tip: Dressy pants can be jeans if the wash is dark – they still look great
Boots and moccasins are great for tramping around the trees with your cousins.
Picking up pine cones…
And going all Daniel-san on them…
Or just rock around the Christmas tree. True story: these trees are Christmas trees from when I was growing up. Since my parents had a lot of land with no trees, for several years we’d get living Christmas trees that got planted on New Year’s day. It’s so cool to see how tall they are now and know I was once opening presents under them.
Style Tip: A capelet is a great way to keep the chill away from your precious girl without wrinkling her dress.
Just like his big brother, Bean is also sporting the chocolate Minnetonka Boys Moc (sponsored). I think I see a holiday card picture here!
Style tip: Coordinate – don’t match! – outfits for sibling photos. Here the boys are both wearing navy and beige, with pops of orange and chocolate brown.
Bean is chilling in the non-hooded version of the Johnny B Good shirt and his Tree Climber Trousers, made in an olive beige stretch denim that I am really contemplating buying more of for myself.
Style Tip: Try denim that isn’t blue – there are a bunch of other great color options right now, and they look fresh and modern.
Remember you can buy the Pattern Anthology patterns at up to a 40% discount now until November 18 only. After that the collection goes away for good and the discount expires.
