Hey y’all – today I decided to bring back some Handmade Boy Style and share a recent polo shirt upcycle I made Tater.
The guy seems to be growing in length but not width at all – I swear he’s still a size 3 in the chest/waist/hips, but he’s up to size 6 in length. I made this shirt from an old polo shirt that used to belong to my hubby. In fact it’s one that he wore in maternity photos while I was pregnant with Bean.
But then this shirt shrunk and doesn’t fit the hubs anymore, so he added it to my upcycle pile. All I did was cut the collar off and then cut the shirt down using my Tee Times 3 pattern.
I literally didn’t even refinish the neck – since knits don’t fray and the collar was knit, I just cut it really closely and it’s fine without further finishing.
Happy Friday everyone – hope you have a great weekend!

Did you son think it was cool that it used to be his Dad’s shirt? Maybe that’s something that means more to moms.

What a cute smile he has! My youngest also grows straight up but not out. It’s hard to find pants that fit him… I love this idea for a shirt upcycle! The contrast sleeves are pretty neat. Its awesome that your hubby add to your upcycle basket too. Mine tries to chuck anything that isn’t tied down. 🙂
