Have you ever had the best of intentions and then life happens? I know you probably have, because we all have, because LIFE. Anyway, this is exactly what happened with my last spring pattern, the Forsythe Trousers.
The Forsythe Pants are named for a street in my childhood neighborhood, and I wanted them to have both a modern cropped version and a long, classic trouser line. In bright green Essex Linen (cotton/linen blend), they are the perfect balance of retro and modern for me.
The capri pair we photographed for the spring lookbook (below) is made in a draped rayon twill – something I picked up on a Los Angeles fabric shopping trip. It has a substantial weight but fluid lines, so  it wasn’t as prone to rumpling as my linen pants were.
These were supposed to be released much earlier in March. But then there was the attack of the oak pollen, followed by a cough that led to insomnia because I couldn’t.stop.coughing. long enough to sleep. And between that and doing two rounds of testing on this pattern to get the fit the way I wanted, well, that meant March got away from me.
But FINALLY, thanks to a lot of help and some amazing testers, this pattern is done. You can see more details about the Forsythe Trousers and Capris and purchase here.
These pants are secret pajamas, appropriate for work or weekend thanks to the cuffed hem, mock fly, welt pockets and belt loops + belt sash, but as comfy as loungewear due to the elastic waist.
And as I said, there were some lovely testers for these, so we got the fit just right for most bodies (sizes XXS-3x – hips 33″-53″), then added a 3 page pant fitting guide so that you can tweak them for your own unique shape. Check out some of the tester photos of the capri version below.

Oh, seriously! These are so stinking cute! I wish I actually had a waist to show off that darling sash! Pretty sure I’ll need to get this pattern anyway! 🙂

Melli these are adorable! I can’t wait until payday to buy the pattern to get started on my own pair!
By the way, even though I’m not plus size anymore, I definitely used to be. It is SO hard to get super cute patterns like this in larger sizes. THANK YOU for remembering that women of all sizes want to look beautiful AND stylish. The tester in the gray crops looks FAB!
