Sew a waist bag – this fanny pack belt bag is made using the free Kelly Waist Bag pattern by Love You Sew
Hey y’all, today we’re sewing up a waist bag project. For this DIY belt bag tutorial I used the FREE (at the time of post publication) Kelly Waist Bag pattern from Love You Sew. My friend Cristy has written a great little pattern for fabrics that don’t fray, such as leather, faux leather, vinyl, oilcloth, etc. And she graciously let me use her pattern in my latest video.
I love how this bag can work with your own belt (though the pattern also includes instructions for making a belt for it) and swap onto whatever works with your outfit. The simple shape is also prettier (in my opinion) than the fanny packs I remember from my youth. It’s nice to have a hands free option to carry your essentials when your pockets just aren’t big enough.
Want to make your own waist bag? First, go get the Kelly Waist Bag pattern from Love You Sew. Cristy has great instructions in her pattern, and you can check out the video below if you’d like to see me sew it step by step. You can also see how to make a waist bag on YouTube here if the video below won’t load for some reason. And remember to check out my tips to sew leather to get your best results.
That’s it – hope you enjoy making your own waist bag!
