As I mentioned in my Knitted Baby Bonnet post, my niece was baptized recently and I got to make her dress. This was not a hard dress for me to make, but I was paranoid about messing up the fabric since my sister in law wanted it to be silk. So the whole thing is made of silk dupioni, with handmade silk ribbons and handmade raw-edge silk rosettes embellishing it.
Which she grew tired of. But she still gave me sweet smiles while she modeled her dress

The dress and bonnet are absolutely beautiful. I love how you used the silk ribbon and roses on the bonnet too!

I love the gown and the bonnet… To die over!
I was pg with our first cild when we had a trip to Belgium. I fell in love with the baby gowns in every store window. I didn’t come home with much chocolate in hand but I came home with a gown and matching bonnet that cost more then my wedding gown did! Both of my kids wore it and I’m praying the spit-up stain from my son didn’t totally set in as the gown is in long term storage for 6 years the the TX heat! I will be having a shadow box made for it, when we return home. I think your creation shoul dbe put on display too, with some of the sweet photo’s of the darling girl in it. Happy sewing for her!!

beautiful little girl and the dress is lovely- you really did an amazing job- what a treasure this will be when she looks back- i have a knitted version of a little gown booties and bonnet that was made for my husband as an infant- when my mother in law gave it to me i had it matted and framed- such a keepsake- your work is reminiscent of those treasures.

This is probably a dumb question, but how did you hem the edges? I’m a novice at sewing and I’m perplexed that there’s no folding or seams.
