Hi all, it’s Becky at Be So Crafty sharing my version of the Novelista Shirt (aff link) I made to add to my fall wardrobe. Because I like to layer A LOT in the fall, I went up one size to Large. The fit is still awesome and I like the oversized comfortable feel.
The fabric is thin denim paired with some rusty bronze buttons. I left off the breast pockets and just did more top-stitching. You can pair this shirt with leggings and boots or a skirt, beautiful scarf and heels for more fancy look.
The Novelista pattern is simple to understand for the intermediate seamstress or a patient beginner. In fact, I have found that all Blank Slate Patterns are easy to understand and full of useful pictures. Don’t hesitate to try any of them.
Choosing the buttons was the hardest part because I wanted it to look nice and professional. I debated on colored buttons or trendy ones, but in the end choose the rustic bronze. I can’t wait to try the split back variation of the pattern with short sleeves this spring. There are seriously so many possibilities.
I love being part of the sewing team and making the time to actually sew for myself. It’s opened a whole new world of sewing for me.
