Hi everyone! Stacey of Beatnik Kids here today with my latest Blank Slate Sewing Team sew. Today, I’m sharing the Oceanside Pants; aka, the world’s most comfortable pants pattern. Ever.
The Oceanside Pants and Shorts sewing pattern is a relaxed fit, wide leg pant that includes options for an elasticized drawstring waist and crazy-cool front pockets. And can we just take a moment to pause and contemplate the wonders of a two piece pattern?
This pair, which is definitely the first of many, is sewn up in Robert Kaufman Essex Linen. I can’t tell you enough how amazing the drape and weight are of this fabric. And it absolutely compliments the nature of this pants pattern which makes this pair of pants perfectly breezy and flowing even on the most humid of summer days.
I’m seriously going to need a pair of these in every color because not only are they super comfortable, but they’re a snap to ensemble whether you’re looking to dress up and down.
This particular pair has just returned from a family vacation jammed packed with historical walking sights and beachside lounging and I’m embarrassed to tell you how many days in a row they were worn. I promise our rental had a washing machine but I’m not ashamed to admit I probably could have packed an outfit or three less. Now it’s time to sew a pair in shorts length!

This is my next project….so inspired after seeing this pair….I teach yoga….and am soooo done with the black stretchy yoga pants….this pant could be the perfect replacement 🙂

You’ll have to hange your name to Melly’s Magic. I just requested a pants pattern and here it is! I’ll definitely have to try them out. I like the idea of linen and the drawstring. Do they fit lower than the natural waist?
Susan Katz
They are designed to sit a bit lower than the waist, yes. Instructions are included for altering the rise, if desired. 🙂

I’m kind of stuck for a printer right now, but as soon as I get this one going I’ll pick up a pair.
