My guys have outgrown their Sleepover Pajamas, and seeing this cute coordinating set from Jess today makes me want to put them back on the top of my to sew list! Read on…
Hi, Melly Sews friends! Jess from If Only They Would Nap back with two pairs of the cutest jammies that you've ever seen. Seriously, few things are cuter than toddler cousins wearing coordinating Sleepover Pajamas!
My youngest and my nephew are only nine days apart, and since I had to wear matching jammies with my cousins, why shouldn't my kids? These two are adorable, and the pajamas are perfect for summer.
The pattern is easy to make and very easy to assembly line sew. I sewed the size 2 with nearly no modifications for these boys who are quite similar in size (though my little guy in the triangles probably could have worn the 18 month size top - but since he's nearly two and a half, I didn't want to sew something he would quickly outgrow).
The only modification I made was to the binding. I just serged the binding on, rather than the folded over finish that's instructed in the pattern (to save time). So it's a tiny bit wider, but still works great. I should have just shortened the width of the binding a bit, but you know... hindsight.
I love the wide cuffs on the shorts, and the length is perfect.
I also really appreciate the envelope style top, which makes it much easier to wrangle a toddler who thinks he's not ready for bed, but Mama thinks differently.
If you're familiar with sewing knits, this pattern will be a breeze. If you're new to knits, just take it slowly and you'll have no problem. Melissa's directions are always so clear that you'll sail right through it.
I also think the Sleepover Pajamas would make great play clothes! The shirt is great for a lap tee and the pants are perfect for running around the yard and getting dirty, as you can clearly see.
Since it's still fifty bazillion degrees, I'm planning to make some more of these to take us through the rest of the summer! You can find the Sleepover Pajamas in Melissa's shop here.
