Yesterday I mentioned that I purposely left this lace dress unlined so that I could play with different things underneath it. I have a few slip dresses, but I’ll probably be making a few more from this pattern and just leaving the tie off the middle. This is a great way to play with different looks from one piece – a change of colors and accessories and this dress can go through all the seasons – even winter!
For the first look I put a hot pink slip dress and added a bright cobalt blue patent leather belt and gold flats.
I think it’s a pretty look for a spring event – the lace is feminine and playful with the bright colors.
Heels would probably look great too, except I’m not often a heels girl. I like to be comfortable.
To go even more casual, you can do the essential Texas spring style of adding your cowgirl boots (mine are vintage) and a denim jacket.
Since I wanted a more subtle color for this look, I put a yellow slip dress under. This dress is actually really bright, but the lace tones it down.
And finally, I actually wore this dress to dinner last month at Alt in Salt Lake City. Over a gray turtleneck sweater dress and with fleece lined leggings and boots, it was pretty but warm, which is important because I get cold so easy.
I added a silver tassle necklace, because I’m not quite all aboard the gold jewelry trend yet, and I felt comfortable and myself wearing this.
So there we go – three ways to wear a lace dress. Hope you have a great weekend!

You have made a gorgeous all season dress. I would not have believed lace could be so dressed down and yet so elegant and yet again look so comfortable. Your dress is not only for all seasons but for all occasions! Kudos for a job so well done. Also you look absolutely wonderful in all of the pictures.

Like the jean’s jacket, boots and bag too. With the short haircut you look preppy, and I’ve always loved that look.
You have a great eye for fashion.

Thanks for compiling all the ways to wear this style. I really like the version with the pink slip dress. This might have to be on my sewing list for this summer! I appreciate so many of your tips and tutorials!
