Happy February, y’all! I’m back with more selfish sewing, and in a Valentine mood. So I made myself a high low shirt out of fabric I have been stashing for literally years.
Today’s top was inspired by this Daily Lunch Date Modcloth top:

I made a couple changes, but it inspired me with the polka dots (because I knew I already had the perfect fabric) and the easy fit. I’ve been sewing knit, knit, knits lately and I wanted a woven top. I’m also in love with the high low hems, especially in shirts to wear with skinny jeans or leggings – I’m just at an age where I feel more confident if there’s a little more coverage in the back when I’m wearing bottoms that tight.
We took these photos over the weekend in front of a daycare center that’s painted pink – I was getting funny drive-by looks!
And because it was a family outing, I let the boys act like paparazzi – Hubby caught this adorable image of them trying to take pictures of me.
For anyone who thinks you must have a DSLR to take good pictures, I beg to differ. This one is the straight out of camera (cropped) shot that Tater took with our old point and shoot. I think he did a pretty good job – wish my expression had been nicer (I think I’m frowning at Bean who was screaming here).
The top features an easy fit, bust darts and a bias tape finished neckline. I didn’t end up putting the cuffs on like my inspiration version because I was lazy I wanted the shirt to be really easy because I’m writing this up as a free pattern and tutorial.
