Today I’m going to show you how I made Bean’s Star Tank that he wore on the Fourth of July.
First, I made the tank top.
Probably not what you were expecting in a “how I made this” tutorial, huh? I guess a better way to say it would be “how I embellished it.” But I did make the tank. I just can’t tell you more about that yet, because it’s part of a big announcement that is scheduled for Monday. So I hope you can wait and come back to find out more.
As for how I embellished it – it was sooooo easy.
They sell this at Hobby Lobby, and I saw it here and here, and I wanted to get my hands on some and I finally did.
You literally just stamp the clothes.
I love that you can get either clean, crisp stamps or faded out ones if you reuse without re-inking.
I set my shirt on my cardboard that I use for pin patterning, so I could hang it off the edge of the table and do the front and back without smearing or waiting for it to dry. This was, after all, a project finished at 10:00 pm on July 3rd.
Once you’re done, you let it dry, then heat set the design with an iron, and that’s it.
On Monday I promise I will stop being so mysterious and let you know about the big announcement. Until then have a great weekend!

This is so cute, Melly. I love the way you’ve varied the stars. And the tank top looks fabulous with the striped pant cuffs.
