Several people on my list this year are getting handmade gifts. Several little cousins are getting variations of this:
This flower was the happy accident of removing ruffle from this shirt (blogged about here)
The ruffle was a double layer of circle ruffle that I then gathered in the middle. It’s hard to tell in the picture above, but that flower, using all the ruffle, was over 7 inches in diameter. It would’ve worked for a belt, but when I decided to use it on a headband, I rolled up only half of it before it started to get too big.
Though it looks white in the photo, the edges are rolled serge edges (the last done with my old serger) in gray, to go with our gray/navy holiday portrait scheme.
Since I only used half the ruffle I had, I have enough to make a second headband!

So cool! Great upcycle, too! And you didn’t even have to fuss with making a ruffle. LOVE IT!

Oh, you made a headband with it! I love it!

Seamingly Smitten – thanks! But I just want to be clear, this isn’t exactly an upcycle since I made the shirt in question from scratch, including the ruffles, then decided I didn’t like them. I’ve added a link to the post about the shirt.
