One of my FAVORITE things about blogging is the community, and today I’m just thrilled to be a part of it. A bunch of women I know got together and decided we wanted to surprise Melissa of Sew Like My Mom with a pattern tour – that she has no idea about and didn’t have to organize at all. How cool is that?
I was even happier to say yes to this, because literally if not for Melissa I might not be a blogger/pattern designer like I am now. This post was the first one I ever saw on a sewing blog. Before that I had no idea sewing blogs existed. So I credit her with leading me through the looking glass and into this life. Â And this post? This seems like such a tiny thing to repay her with. (BTW, I bought this pattern. So no affiliation or kickbacks here, except for the the whole story above).
So I stitched up the Indoor Bowling Set (scroll all the way down on that page to see this pattern) because as darling as her Darling Daisy dress is, I don’t think my boys would wear it. But bowling? A ball? They’re all in for that.
I think this is the oldest pattern Melissa has in her shop, and the pieces for it are hand drawn (which I know is not the case with her newer patterns) but it still went together easily and beautifully. Except I only made 5 pins because I ran out of the fabric scraps that Bean picked out and I really didn’t want to hunt for another color scheme. Plus it’s not like he’s noticed yet.
You know I tend to prefer garment sewing, and sewing/stuffing small things isn’t my first choice in sewing projects, but y’all, this really went together quickly and easily. I did skip the interfacing, and instead I made my seam allowances a little thicker. Not that interfacing would have taken much longer, I was just being lazy. Like the 6th pin thing too.
