Today we’re wrapping up the how to sew a blazer sewalong – adding in the lining and finishing the blazer. In case you missed it, on Monday we talked patternmaking, on Tuesday we covered darts and the front, on Wednesday we sewed the pockets, side seams and shoulders, and on Thursday we set in the sleeves and basted on the collar.
Today we’re finishing the blazer (woot-woot!). At this point your should have one blazer made of the main fabric, and one blazer made of the lining fabric. Now we’re going to join them. With both the blazer and lining wrong side out, pin all along the neckline edge, sandwiching the collar in the middle, pin down the front edges and along the bottom edge. With this blazer you’ll leave the back vents open, with the Basic Blazer you’ll need to leave a hole for your hand to turn the jacket right side out. Stitch all along the edges, pivoting at the corners.
