The Schoolday Skirt Sewing Pattern Now Available!

So ever since I updated the Blank Slate Patterns website and included an image of this skirt sewing pattern in the slideshow, I have been getting emails about when it will be available. Well now I can answer – it’s available TODAY! Yippee and hooray, celebrate and dance to the music. Get your Schoolday Skirt here.

For the sample skirt I used more of the cotton herringbone twill from The Fabricker that I’m hoarding. And no you can’t have any because I bought it all, however there’s some awesome tangerine silk that you might have seen me playing with on Instagram (@mellysews) that I didn’t buy out.

Another shout out to Alison Eden for the amazing photographs. Seriously Austin peeps, you must check her out. I am particularly fond of the sunglasses in these shots. When we arrived at Alison’s studio with a troupe of 6 kids and parents, she pulled out a box of toys for them to play with while they weren’t on set. When these two little girls were being shy, I noticed the glasses in the box and handed them over to try to get a smile. But since the yellow matched the Vintage V-Neck stripes perfectly, what I ended up with instead of just a smile was some pure awesomeness in the photos. Seriously, check out that attitude!

This skirt sewing pattern is advanced beginner because of the buttonholes, but other than those (which are super easy if you have a buttonhole attachment or buttonhole foot) this is actually a super easy sew – despite the pleats!
