Pumped Up Kicks by Mandy of Sugar Bee Crafts

Hi Everyone!!  What a great idea for a series – boys and music go hand in hand!!  I know I’ll be following along for sure – - the lineup is amazing!  I am Mandy from Sugar Bee Crafts

Sugar Bee Crafts: sewing, recipes, crafts, photo tips, and more!

I have 4 kiddos (2 of which are BOYS) and love to craft and blog (obviously!) – - I feel like if I can do something, then you can too!!

Today I want to show a quick and easy way to craft clothing for boys inspired by song lyrics….

My little boys is obsessed with the song Pumped Up Kicks – so when quizzing my husband for ideas on what to sew for the Sew in Tune series, he suggested just making a song lyric tshirt – great idea!!  Obviously this will work for any song!

I used iron-on vinyl for the words “Pumped Up” and the outline of “KICKS” but you could use fabric paint or draw with bleach or freezer stencil or anything like that.

The real focus of the shirt is the appliqued letters.  First I ironed on “wonder under” to my fabric – it’s iron-on that’s for both sides, so it allows you to iron fabric onto things.  Anyways, iron it to the fabric, then cut out your letter shape.  Then peel off the backing.  Then iron it to the shirt where you’d like it to go.  You could try omitting this step, but I thought it was a perfect way to hold the applique (fabric letter) while sewing and not have it slide around.

So you guessed it – the next step is to sew around each letter – I love the look of this!

He is so excited about his new song-inspired shirt!

And I love how it turned out – a simple summer project – if you want to make it a little more involved, you could always make the tshirt – but I found this one on clearance for $2, so that was perfect for me.

Hope to see you over at www.SugarBeeCrafts.com!

Thanks Mandy! And don’t forget to enter the giveaway, running through August 16th.
