Crochet Trim Dress by Jessica of Craftiness is Not Optional

Today we have Jess with us. Jess is like the queen of tutorials – I seriously figured out how to write them in part by reading hers. And she has so many of them! Every time I think of something new I want to do, I peek at her tutorials first, and lots of times she’s already done it.

Hi Melly Sews readers! I’m Jess, from Craftiness is not Optional, and I’m so excited to be here for this fab Sundress series! It’s really perfect timing with summer upon us….and my oldest is always asking for new dresses! She loves purple lately, so I was happy to oblige with this breezy cotton number. It’s really very simple, but the crocheted trim gives it some interest.

I used a combination of various tutorials of mine, so here are the links!
For the bodice, I used this tutorial…for the waistband, this one….for the button closure, this technique, only I lined it fully, so I sewed down the entire back bodice (sewing together the lining and outer fabric) instead of just halfway down. The skirt is just two panels of fabric sewn together and gathered to fit the waistband, and you can figure out how to sew on trim right? Correct answer: in a straight line. ;)
I think it turned out super simple and fun!
Thanks for having me, Melly!

Thanks Jess! While you’re looking around Jess’s blog, make sure you check out some of my favorites, like this Lucky Dress

And her method for making Raglan T-shirts

And don’t forget to come back tomorrow and see what Alida of I Make Stuff did.
