Aside from the flattering fit, you get so many options with this shirt:
- Long (27.5″) or shorter (23.5″) length
- Sleeveless, short sleeved, 3/4 sleeved or long sleeved
- Women’s sizes XS, S, M and L
- 20 pages of instructions with full color photos
- 15 pages of printable pattern pieces
Add to that the endless variations on woven and knit fabrics that you can use, and this is a great pattern to use over and over!
The pattern is a beginning-ish level pattern. If you’ve successfully sewn something like a skirt or pajama pants, you’re ready for this. If you’re still at pillowcase level, you might want to try a skirt or pajama pants first.
The pattern uses 1-2 yards of knit (depending on options chosen) and 1/4 yard of woven fabric. It’s great for using quilting cotton scraps.

How difficult is the pattern? Can a new sewer follow it? I can do basic stuff on a sewing machine.
This is really cute! What size do you think “L” correspond to in ready to wear?
A large. The pattern is made to accommodate a 42″ bust in the size large.
As a beginner sewer, how would I make an adjustment for a larger bust. I’m between a 1x-2x in ready to wear but about a large/petite in the rest of my body.
Just finished making the tshirt and I really like it, except for that it’s too snug around my butt. Definitely will use it again, next one I’ll make the body a bit wider at the hip but really like this pattern.
Just finished mine too and I really like the way it looks (blogged at: http://roseisaroseisa.blogspot.com/2012/06/mighty-machines-and-rose.html). The arms are a little snug but I think that’s because I cut the paper wrong (didn’t read the instructions thoroughly enough!). Thanks for the great pattern.
