We are lucky enough to live in “The Live Music Capital of the World” so when I started thinking about the boys week sew along challenge for Project Run and Play, I thought Tater needed a little rocker attitude, to go with the 3 year old attitude he possesses in spades. And I named it after our city, Austin, Texas.
The shirt is made from my own pattern, using the fabric from a men’s dress shirt and flannel for the Western-style yoke insets. I embroidered the guitar on the back with my embroidery machine.
The jeans are also from my own pattern. They are from black bleached stretch denim fabric, with a mock fly, and jeans topstitching to make them look more authentic.
The photos were taken in a little indie record store here that carries vinyl (as well as CDs and DVDs), Piranha Records. Look them up – they have online sales too.
It was fun explaining to Tater what records are. I remember my much loved Fisher Price record player…do they even make those anymore?
Tutorial for the shirt coming Tuesday.
