I started this dress LAST summer, but with Bean just born, it never got finished. Until this summer, therefore the name.
The pattern is Butterick 4510, which is out of print. Please forgive my “model”, Hubby is out of town so short of handing the camera to Tater or getting the cashier at the grocery store to take my picture, this is my best option.
I think I bought the fabric about 4-5 years ago when a Hancock Fabrics location was closing. Not that I’m a procrastinator with projects or anything.
The sad thing is that when I started this last year I had boobs that were three cup sizes bigger than they are now (breastfeeding played a cruel joke on me. Just when I was beginning to like looking like a playboy bunny…) and trying this dress on to finish it was a sad reminder of what I’ve lost up top. I had to undo most of the front skirt seam to pull the crossover wraps tighter.
Then I happened to glance my back in the mirror, and it was gaping at least 3 inches in the top center back. I mean, I understand how boobs can shrink, but how exactly does one lose so much weight in their back, for heaven’s sake? And the waist was only a tiny bit loose, so again, how does one go about losing so much off the top and nothing around the middle? The things those babies do to our bodies. I had to add a dart in the center back to get it to fit properly.
And lastly, a bit of randomness. I am currently obsessed with this song, which you can’t buy. As in I keep hitting replay while I write this post. Do you ever get obsessed with songs? 4-5 times a year one gets me and I just keep listening over and over and over…
