OK, you can just call me and Hubby Auntie and Uncle AWESOME! Our nephew’s birthday is today, and for his party tomorrow we are giving him a train table we built. And I can say that because I know my sister-in-law does not read this blog yet
Tater has a very nice train table that I found at a garage sale for $16 (score!) and my mom wanted to get our nephew one like it, but couldn’t find one anywhere – even the used ones on Craigslist were either yucky or overpriced. So I started brainstorming…we had plywood, 2x4s and lots of tools in our shed from our various home improvements. Part of it is that we’re really trying to spend less money, and part was a desire to give a train table as nice as Tater’s (and not having any other ideas for a 2 year old birthday gift). Soooo, $9 of lumber later, we had construction on our back porch:
