I finally figured out how to do rolled edge hems on my serger, which makes it easy-peasy to make small hems on strips of fabric and then send them through the ruffler on my sewing machine (I know you can use the serger to ruffle too; that’s the next thing I need to figure out how to do with it). Anyways, I also have a friend with a little girl I’m sewing for, so yesterday I made this:
Isn’t it adorable? The only problem is that its owner has tiny shoulders and it is falling off
So I think I’m going to add a casing around the neckline and put in some elastic to gather it up like a peasant dress.
Today I made more ruffles for a sunsuit in progress for the same little girl, and a dress in progress for myself. Now off to experiment with sewing with an elastic bobbin!

I love this dress, It reminds me of something I wore as kid. It’s so cute, great job figuring out the rolled edge hem too… there’s so many things my sewing machine can do that I’ve yet to figure out.
